Common questions

How long should my title tag be?

Google truncates by pixel width rather than character count, but 50–60 characters is the practical target for desktop and around 50 for mobile. The important part is that your key phrase and your brand both survive the cut — put the phrase first and the brand last, because the end is what gets trimmed.

And the meta description?

Aim for 140–160 characters. It does not directly affect ranking, but it is the only ad copy you get in the results page, so it very much affects whether anyone clicks. Write it as a promise about what the visitor will get, not a summary of what the page contains.

Why does Google show something different from what I wrote?

Google rewrites titles and descriptions roughly half the time, usually when it thinks yours does not match the search intent, is stuffed with keywords, or is duplicated across pages. A clear, specific, non-repetitive title is the best way to make it keep yours.

Does this tool change my website?

No. It only previews. If you paste a URL we fetch the page and read the title and description that are already there, so you can edit from reality rather than from memory — but nothing is written back to your site.

Titles are the easy part.

Getting the page to rank in the first place is the work. If you want someone to own that, we run SEO retainers with weekly reporting and no lock-in.
